I've obviously been remiss about updating my blog--it's been 12 months since my last post when the plane was being painted. Well, all turned out pretty well. I've put about 50 hours on her. With a few bugs here and there--the new alternator was replaced under warranty, a rebuilt vaccum pump was put in, the cigarette lighter was finally fixed by my new partner--and she is purring along quite nicely. The second oil analysis came back with even better results (fewer metal particulates) than the first. This signifies that the engine was shedding a bit of old rust from sitting for so long, but not very much at all, and everything is looking good for the long range future. Oh, I know, airplanes always need lots of TLC, but in the mean time, it's blue skies.
For those of you considering a refurbishment like mine, know that it has been a very satisfying project. Also, that it takes a team (or a lot more knowledge and time than I have).
Our future plans are to upgrade the panel with a Garmin 430 and to get the Positive Control (PC)
quasi-autopilot working properly. I may chirp in with an updated blog post from time to time. Thanks for joining me. It's been a fun journey. Enjoy the finished product!
