Painting, Curing and Buffing

We spent parts of New Year's Eve and New Year's day painting. The landing gear parts were first blasted clean, then etch primed, and finally painted with latex to match the original light cream. Excellent job, Glenn. While the parts were curing, I spent a couple of hours stripping the spinner and sanding it to get it ready for buffing to a high shine--no more paint for the spinner. The challenge has been in sanding away the horizontal striations created in the manufacturing of the spinner. I'll do what I can do, but I'm not going to sand the thing forever. Take a look...

Wow, this came out great. The photo doesn't do it justice. The break line will be replaced.

See previous blog entries for this frame in it's previous state and sand blasted state.

This part holds the wheel...important.

Left gear flap. We're going to have the prettiest undercarriage ever, even if you can't see it.

Pitted and dingy.

Stripped.

A sample of what the buffing will do, but I'm working on getting rid of the striations.
